Saturn satellite, the seventh in order of distance from the planet.

It is in orbit at an average distance of 1,481,000 km, making a turn in just over twenty-one days and six hours. Relatively irregular, it has a diameter of about 300 km, a mass a thousand times smaller than that of our Moon.

Hyperion was discovered in 1848 by astronomer William C. Bond (1789-1859).

It is probably mostly water ice.
