CNES They are the acronym of the Center National d'Etudes Spatiales, the French space agency.

It is headquartered in Paris, but its main launch base is in Kourou, in French Guiana, north of Brazil. It also has other centers scattered around various places, among them, the most important are in Evry and Toulouse.

The Ariane Program, a project undertaken by Europe in 1973 to provide a launcher that allowed independent access to space, is one of its most famous programs.

The development of the Ariane launcher is carried out under the direction of the European Space Agency (ESA), and the French National Center for Space Studies (CNES) acts as the main contractor.
