He apogee it is the point of the moon's orbit, of an artificial satellite or of the trajectory of a space vehicle, which is furthest from the center of the Earth. It is the opposite of Perigee, the closest point to Earth.

The ending -geo refers to the orbits around the Earth; the ending - helium to the orbits around the Sun and the ending - astronom refers to the orbits around a star.

By analogy, it is also often called apogee at the point of any orbit, in which the distance between the object that describes it and its center of attraction is maximum.

When a satellite makes an orbit around the center of the Earth, the satellite's apogee or perigee distances with respect to the Earth's surface are often given instead of the distances corresponding to the center of the planet.
