Located at the border of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, at 2,396 meters of altitude, the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory has, among many others, the William Herschel Telescope, 4.2 m in diameter; the Isaac Newton Telescope, 2.5 meters; the Jacobus Kapteyn Telescope, 1 meter in diameter; the Nordic Optical Telescope, 2.5 m; the Carlsberg Meridian Telescope, 18 cm, or the Swedish Solar Telescope, 1 meter in diameter.

In addition to the night and solar observation and their corresponding scientific studies, the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory carries out a magnificent informative work to get the knowledge of astronomy to the public.
