This mosaic of images taken by the panoramic camera of the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit shows where the probe landed, the Gusev Crater, on the planet Mars. This spectacular photo can mean the entire day of Spirit, from the landing point to its possible final destination towards the eastern hills.
The rover will travel 250 meters northeast to a large crater of approximately 200 meters, whose edges can be seen to the left of this image. On the right, the eastern hills are approximately 3 kilometers away. The photo was taken on January 18, 2004. A part of Spirit's solar panels appears in the foreground.
