The Hubble Space Telescope is an artificial satellite that orbits the Earth and directs its instruments towards space rather than our planet. The main architecture does not differ much from a ground telescope. It is a cylindrical tube, inside which resides a large mirror of 2.5 meters in diameter.
The main mirror collects the light and focuses it on a secondary mirror located at the mouth of the telescope, which in turn reflects the light towards the instruments behind the primary one thanks to an opening in its center. The instruments are responsible for collecting the light and converting it into computer data for shipment to Earth.
